London, 27th February 2023
Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV), part of Abdul Latif Jameel Energy, a global leader in the development of sustainable energy solutions, is opening offices in the UK for the first time. The company, which specialises in renewable energy solutions for commercial and industrial customers, will now offer its services from its new London headquarters at 566 Chiswick High Road, which will also be home to FRV’s Global Batteries Excellence Centre.
The decision to open an office in the UK, which is expected to have 15 employees by the end of 2023, stems from the company’s extensive project portfolio in the region, with a pipeline of 5GW of battery energy storage (BESS) projects: Clay Tye, with a capacity of 198 MW (under construction) scheduled for commissioning in the first half of 2023, and Contego, with a capacity of 68 MWh.
In the UK alone, FRV currently has more than 80MW of projects in operation, 200MW under construction and more than 1GW under development. Furthermore, during 2022 Contego and Holes Bay, two of FRV’s battery plants in the UK, have been the two best performing battery assets in the country, according to the ranking prepared by the monitoring tool MODO Energy. The opening of these new offices contributes to FRV’s goal of reaching 1GW of installed capacity in Europe by 2025.
Through the opening of our first office in the UK, we are setting ourselves ambitious targets to further promote our role in tackling global sustainability challenges and contributing to a better quality of life for future generations. It also underscores our commitment to ensuring our operations contribute to the UK achieving its carbon emissions targets and wider sustainability objectives.Fady JameelDeputy President and Vice Chairman, Abdul Latif Jameel
FRV has recently announced the acquisition of two battery energy storage projects in the UK from RE Projects Development Limited (REPD) with the assistance of Tyler Hill, adding to a portfolio that already includes other notable projects such as Contego and Clay Tye. In this way, the company continues to expand its portfolio of energy storage projects internationally and continues to contribute to the evolution towards a more sustainable energy model in the UK, one of its main strategic objectives.
