{"id":16932,"date":"2022-07-18T09:38:01","date_gmt":"2022-07-18T07:38:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/frv.com\/?p=16932"},"modified":"2022-07-18T09:47:29","modified_gmt":"2022-07-18T07:47:29","slug":"frv-and-harmony-energy-announce-the-construction-of-one-of-uks-largest-battery-storage-project-clay-tye-198-mwh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/frv.com\/en\/frv-and-harmony-energy-announce-the-construction-of-one-of-uks-largest-battery-storage-project-clay-tye-198-mwh\/","title":{"rendered":"FRV and Harmony Energy announce the construction of one of UK\u00b4s largest battery storage project Clay Tye 198 MWh"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>FRV and Harmony have begun construction works of Clay Tye Battery Energy System Storage Plant.<\/li>\n<li>With 99MW \/ 198MWh it is by MWh the UK\u2019s largest battery storage development in build and will assist in the mission decarbonization of Britain\u2019s energy grid.<\/li>\n<li>Clay Tye, uses 52Tesla Megapack lithium-ion batteries, together with Tesla\u2019s Autobidder.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>London, 18 July 2022<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/frv.com\/en\">Fotowatio Renewable Ventures<\/a> (FRV), part of <a href=\"https:\/\/alj.com\/energy\">Abdul Latif Jameel Energy<\/a> and one of the world\u2019s leading renewable energy companies, and UK developer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harmonyenergy.co.uk\/\">Harmony Energy<\/a>, have announced the initial construction works of Clay Tye, UK\u2019s largest battery storage development project in their mission to contribute to the decarbonization of Britain\u2019s energy grid.<\/p>\n<p>The Clay Tye site is located in Essex and will have a total power of 99MW \/ 198MWh, making it the biggest project of its kind under construction in the UK. Clay Tye follows the successful completion of FRV and Harmony Energy\u2019s West-Sussex based battery storage facility, Contego, which has a capacity of 34 MW \/ 68 MWh. It also follows the completion of FRV\u2019s Dorset-based Holes Bay battery energy storage project, which has a capacity of 7.5 MW \/ 15 MWh. The project reflects FRV\u2019s long-term investment plan to develop energy storage projects globally in countries like Australia, Mexico, Chile and Spain.<\/p>\n<p>Clay Tye, uses 52 Tesla Megapack lithium-ion batteries, together with Tesla\u2019s Autobidder AI software for energy capacity exchange and efficient project management. The Megapack batteries have a capacity of 198 MWh and are connected to UK Power Networks&nbsp;distribution network, providing the capability to store energy from renewable sources and afford peak-time flexibility to the UK&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalgrideso.com\/\">National Grid<\/a>&nbsp;as part of the UK\u2019s continuing shift away from fossil fuels.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"sh-imagefull aligncenter wp-image-16933 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/frv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Clay-Tye-198-MWh.jpg\" alt=\"Clay Tye BESS\" width=\"1155\" height=\"770\" srcset=\"https:\/\/frv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Clay-Tye-198-MWh.jpg 1155w, https:\/\/frv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Clay-Tye-198-MWh-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/frv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Clay-Tye-198-MWh-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/frv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Clay-Tye-198-MWh-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1155px) 100vw, 1155px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Both FRV and Harmony Energy expect the BESS plant to be finished and energizing during the first quarter of 2023.<\/p>\n                <div class=\"sh-quote\">\n                    <div class=\"sh-quote-content\">\n                        Clay Tye is going to be a significant milestone in our growth objective in the UK energy storage market. Clay Tye follows the successful completion of FRV and Harmony Energy\u2019s West-Sussex based battery storage facility, Contego, which has a capacity of 34 MW \/ 68 MWh. It also follows the completion of FRV\u2019s Dorset-based Holes Bay battery energy storage project, which has a capacity of 7.5 MW \/ 15 MWh. The project reflects FRV\u2019s long-term investment plan to develop energy storage projects globally in countries like Australia, Mexico, Chile and Spain.<\/p>\n<p>Clay Tye, uses 52 Tesla Megapack lithium-ion batteries, together with Tesla\u2019s Autobidder AI software for energy capacity exchange and efficient project management.
