Goonumbla Solar Plant generates first Kwh of clean energy

May 20, 2020

Our 67.8MW ac Goonumbla Solar Plant in New South Wales, Australia, has started generating its first Kwh of clean energy and it is expected to reach full capacity during the coming months.

Once fully operational, the plant will produce approximately 195,000 MWh of clean energy per year. This power output is enough to supply energy to more than 45,000 Australian households and avoid the emission of around 140,000 tons of CO2 annually.

To date, FRV has developed and secured PPAs for a total of seven solar projects in Australia: Royalla (20 MW ac) in the Australian Capital Territory, Clare (100 MWac) and Lilyvale (100MW ac) in Queensland, Moree (56 MW ac), Goonumbla (68.7 MWac) and Sebastopol (90MWac) in New South Wales and Winton (85 MWac) in Victoria.

FRV has always been a pioneer. From the first time they came to us 10 years ago, they really made an impact with their vision and La Magascona, which was a project of a huge magnitude at that time.

José Benjumea

Founder, FRV

We believe that our success needs to have a positive impact in those regions where we operate and that education is the best channel to meet this goal, and to improving the future of those communities that embrace our projects

Gianfranco Carassale

Lead Investment Officer, Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC)

Despite their size, they have been competing closely in bids with firms, which had different structures and abilities. This certainly shows their ability to be a strong market competitor. FRV has been a pioneer in market segments where no one had been before, and that has a lot of value.
